Weekend breaks in Essaouira – photography & cooking breaks – Saturday to Tuesday/Wednesday.
Weekend breaks in Essaouira just got a whole lot easier. At a crack at offering weekend breaks for 2017, we’ve scheduled cooking and photography dates for 2017 priced at £350 for couples to coincide with Easyjet’s new direct route from London Luton to Essaouira. With return flights prices beginning at £70 you can take a 3 day couples break in sunny Morocco for under £500.
The itinerary:
Saturday am. Arriving at Essaouira airport in the late morning you’ll be transferred to your hotel in about 20mins. Your afternoon is then free to browse the local souks or indulge in any activities that you fancy including horse or camel riding, quad biking or why not indulge in a Hammam and massage. As part of the break we’ll give you a list of recommended restaurants that will keep you entertained for evening dining.
On Sunday we’ll collect you from your Riad after which we’ll travel by car to an Argan co-operative a short distance away. Here you can photograph women who produce the labour intensive Argan oil. Have a go if you wish. There’s also the opportunity for a tasting session. Afterwards we’ll continue on passing through the region’s best countryside before our arrival at the Sunday souk where rural shopping life in Morocco is laid bare! It’s a chance for more photography. You’ll also be sourcing ingredients for your afternoon’s Moroccan cooking workshop.
Monday is about a day’s photography around the medina. You’ll have the chance to photograph a range of subjects or improve particular skills as you wish. It includes a tour of the medina. Fear not if you’re a camera on auto person, you’ll be focusing on your composition and some of the basics. The main goal is to explore the colour and vibrancy of life here and make choosing one of our weekend breaks in Essaouira a hugely enjoyable photographic opportunity. In the evening you’ll be dining a la carte at a restaurant of your choice.
The kitchen is located at our resident country house in the heart of the countryside. Firstly you’ll have lunch before your afternoon’s cooking classes with Naima. You’ll also have the chance for a dip in our swimming pool if it’s up and running by May. Around 8pm you’ll depart for the medina full of good food.
Tuesday is your final day with a late morning transfer. Hopefully you’ll be up early to absorb the fishing port.
Your hotel is at Riad Masion du Sud in the centre of Essaouira’s medina. If you wish to upgrade your hotel then let me know. We recommend Dar Maya but it’s a popular Riad so you’ll need to get your booking in some time ahead.
